"You're going to go where?" I decided there was little chance of him offering to fund my little excursion based on the tone of his voice.
For the first two weeks, I stayed and traveled with "mi familia venezolana" de San Antonio de Los Altos (about an hour from downtown Caracas). A week on the Carribean beaches with mi familia y Julio was interesting to say the least and could have been been made into a movie (Adventures with Julio). Not to mention the Return from Puerta La Cruz which was quite an adventure as well... of course it probably won't make today's edition of El Nacional.
Having finally made it back alive from Puerta La Cruz, I flew to the southern part of Venezuela and even crossed the Brazilian Border to see some of the sights and swim in their rivers.
